Liam Gallagher Says There Won’t Be a New Oasis Album Because He’s Not Up For the Criticism If It ‘Doesn’t Sell 100 Million Copies in the 1st Hour’

As is often the case with Oasis, there is definitely some good news coming out of Camp Gallagher, but it appears to be spiced with some not-as-encouraging updates. First, the objectively not-as-exciting information: in a back-and-forth with a fan over the weekend, singer Liam Gallagher gave a spicy response to a follower who wrote, “oasis new album please please please im sorry but i think the new album will actually change lives.”

What that person was asking for was the first album of new material from Oasis since 2008’s Dig Out Your Soul, the band’s seventh, and at this point, seemingly final album based on Liam’s response. “NO I’m just not prepared for the criticism if it doesn’t sell 100 million copies in the 1st hour cure bad breath and constipation for the nation if it doesn’t turn back time for Cher and some other s–t,” Gallagher wrote. “let’s just to some gigs and be happy thank you.”

But OK, another asked, if there “WAS to be new music” from the reunited band that currently also features older brother, guitarist/songwriter Noel Gallagher, guitarists Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and Gem Archer and bassist Andy Bell, what would it sound like? “I’d like to think it’d still sound like oasis and we hadn’t turned into a bunch of electronic umbrellas trying so desperately to keep up with the KIDS do you get me bruv,” Liam wrote.

But back to the “some gigs” part. That definitely got fans excited for more shows from the group that famously reunited in 2025 for a triumphantly received world tour. Last week, after the band’s 1996 Billboard Hot 100 No. 8 hit “Wonderwall” became the unofficial anthem of the English team’s third-place run in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, one salty poster wrote on X, “on the plus side, we’ll not have to hear that Oasis song for a good while.”

Liam, never one to pass up an opportunity to throw a little extra pepper on it, shot back with what sounded like a nonofficial confirmation of what are widely rumored to be plans for a 2027 run of shows, writing, “You’ll be hearing it all nxt year you SP–KBUBBLE.”

At press time a spokesperson for Oasis had not returned Billboard‘s request for comment on possible 2027 tour dates. Oasis recently dropped the first trailer for the upcoming Don’t Look Back in Anger documentary, which will chronicle the group’s blockbuster Live ’25 comeback tour. The film will arrive in theaters and select IMAX cinemas on Sept. 11 before streaming globally later this year on Disney+ and Hulu in the U.S.
