Noel and Liam Gallagher to both attend Venice Film Festival premiere of Oasis’ ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ documentary

Noel and Liam Gallagher will reportedly attend the Venice Film Festival together for the premiere of new documentary Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger.

The film will centre on the brothers’ 2024 reunion and huge ‘Live ‘25’ tour dates. Produced by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace (Meet Me In The Bathroom), the film will debut at the Venice Film Festival under the ‘Out of Competition – Non Fiction’ category.

In a press conference announcing the lineup, President Alberto Barbera teased that the film would follow “the two brothers who have not spoken to each other for 12 years that dissolved one of the most famous rock bands in England at the time, but after so many years they unexpectedly reconcile and they start rehearsing for the formidable world tour that would follow.

“The film follows the rehearsals and the tour and the impact of the tour on the fans of Oasis, who again can find their idols re-proposing the songs they loved so much, years before,” he added.

He then told the audience: “The Gallagher brothers have promised they will be in Venice.”

Apart from their on-stage performances for Oasis’ ‘Live ’25’ tour, the pair have rarely been spotted together in public again since disbanding in 2009.

The trailer for the documentary dropped earlier this month, featuring interview clips with the brothers and shots of their giant arena audiences cheering.

In one clip recorded before their first Cardiff show, Noel says: “I just don’t see myself on stage with Liam, I just don’t see it”.

“The way it finished…unacceptable,” says Liam.

The documentary will be released into cinemas, including IMAX screens, worldwide for a limited theatrical run from September 9, while it will stream on Disney+ around the world, and on Disney+ alongside Hulu in the US, from a later date in 2026.

Speaking about the film, Knight has said: “The Oasis world tour united generations, cultures and countries and spoke to a broken world about reconciliation. Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger is not only your ticket to the show – it’s a backstage pass and a seat at the table when Liam and Noel sit down together for the first time in 15 years and tell it how it is and how it was.”

Meanwhile, Liam has shot down any rumours of new music from the band in a recent Twitter thread.

Despite their recent reunion, the Britpop giants haven’t released an album since 2008’s ‘Dig Out Your Soul’.

Responding to a fan who claimed a new Oasis album could “change lives”, Liam explained: “NO I’m just not prepared for the criticism if it doesn’t sell 100 million copies in the first hour, cure bad breath and constipation for the nation, if it doesn’t turn back time for Cher and some other shit. Let’s just do some gigs and be happy, thank you.”

His response follows a number of contradicting claims he made on social media about the status of new music. He initially teased that a new album was on the way, “already finished” and “in the bag” in September 2024, later adding that he was “blown away” by the music his new brother was working on for the record.

However, that November, he admitted that he was trolling fans with the comments, confirming that there is “no Oasis album in the making” and adding: “I was fucking joking… and the reason being because everyone is a little uptight these days. I’m sorry if I have upset anyone but fuck me it was a laugh.”

Liam went on to fan flames again in 2025, after the band’s manager Alex McKinlay said in an interview that there were definitely “no plan for any new music”. In response, Liam claimed that “the only people making any kind of decisions on the future of OASIS will be ME n RKID [Noel]”, jokingly dismissing McKinlay as being their “accountant”.

Elsewhere, Oasis are reportedly planning a huge 2027 UK and Europe tour – including a rumoured show at Knebworth and a huge 12-night Manchester residency at the Etihad Stadium.
