Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong announces limited-edition Radiant Red Les Paul Junior Epiphone guitar and Marshall Artist Signature amp

Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong has announced a limited-edition Radiant Red Epiphone guitar and his first Artist Signature amplifier with Marshall.

The new Epiphone Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior has been developed with the musician and offers a bright red version of the stripped-back guitar model that has helped define his sound for more than two decades.

Available for a limited time, the guitar features a single-cutaway mahogany body, a set mahogany neck with a substantial ’50s Vintage profile and a rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets.

In keeping with Armstrong’s no-frills approach, it has just one Epiphone P-90 PRO pickup and two controls – master volume and tone – along with a nickel-plated Lightning Bar wraparound bridge.

A reproduction of Armstrong’s signature appears on the back of the headstock, while the guitar comes with a custom black hardshell case featuring a leopard-print interior.

Epiphone have described the model as being built around the straightforward punk-rock formula of “one pickup, two knobs, and absolutely no distractions”.

The guitar is available worldwide through authorised Epiphone retailers, Gibson Garage locations in London and Nashville, and the Epiphone website. It is currently listed by UK retailers for £489. Find out more here.

Armstrong has also partnered with Marshall on the 1959BJA Artist Signature, the amplifier company’s first artist signature model in 14 years.

The baby-blue amplifier head was first spotted behind Armstrong when Green Day performed at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Super Bowl in their native Bay Area.

Based on Marshall’s handwired 1959HW platform, the new model includes a custom “Dookie Mod”, inspired by the guitar tone Armstrong developed with producer Rob Cavallo during the making of Green Day’s 1994 breakthrough album.

The design is a tribute to his first guitar, “Blue”, with baby-blue covering, brass and silver panel details and Armstrong’s signature appearing on both the front and rear panels.

“I’m so overjoyed to have my own signature Marshall amp,” Armstrong said. “These amps have been a part of my musical life, from my heroes down to little old me. Turn it the fuck up!”

Earlier this month, Green Day announced the soundtrack to their upcoming coming-of-age comedy Nimrods, which will be released on July 31.

The 22-track collection includes career-spanning favourites, four previously unreleased live recordings from the Hollywood Palladium and the new song ‘I’m Never Gonna R.I.P.’.

The film itself follows three friends who embark on a road trip after mistakenly believing that they have secured a support slot at a Green Day concert on New Year’s Eve. The band appear as themselves, with the film due to arrive in August.

Armstrong has also recently been performing with his covers band The Coverups. At two shows this month, he was joined by Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson for a rendition of David Bowie’s ‘All The Young Dudes’. The group also covered Nirvana’s ‘Drain You’, which Armstrong dedicated to late L7 bassist Jennifer Finch.

Green Day, meanwhile, released their most recent studio album, ‘Saviors’, in January 2024. In a four-star review, NME called it their “best work since ‘American Idiot’”, praising the band for combining “the best of Green Day” with a renewed sense of purpose.
