Faith No More Are Finally Reuniting in 2027

Faith No More Are Finally Reuniting in 2027

After several years of failing to get a reunion off the ground, Faith No More will finally take the stage again in 2027.

“It’s been a minute,” the band wrote on Instagram as they announced a run of stadium dates with System of a Down. The shows will take place in Australia and New Zealand early next year, kicking off Jan. 22 in Sydney; continuing Jan. 27 in Melbourne and Feb. 1 in Brisbane; and then concluding Feb. 7 in Wellington, New Zealand.

For Faith No More, these shows will be their first since August 2016, when they performed two with original vocalist Chuck Mosley to celebrate a reissue of their debut album We Care a Lot. (Mosley died in 2017.) Their last shows with longtime lead vocalist Mike Patton, meanwhile, took place in 2015, as the band toured in support of Sol Invictus, their first album since 1997.

While Faith No More had planned to return to the stage in 2020, those dates were postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic. While some were pushed to 2021, they were eventually canceled, with Patton citing “mental health reasons.” As Patton later explained to Rolling Stone, he was diagnosed with agoraphobia, which led to other issues he declined to discuss.

“Somehow my confidence was broken down,” he said. “I didn’t want to be in front of people, which is weird because I spent half of my life doing that. It was very hard to explain. And there were some broken feelings on both sides about it, but it’s what I had to do. Because otherwise something really bad could have happened.”

Patton did eventually return to the public eye, reuniting his grindcore outfit Dead Cross, playing with his longtime band Mr. Bungle, and doing various other projects, including a collaborative album with the Avett Brothers. But the prospect of Faith No More getting back together looked grim. Patton described the situation as “a little confusing and complicated” in 2022, while by 2025 drummer Mike Bordin was claiming that Patton was “unwilling to do shows with us.”

It wasn’t until earlier this summer that it began to look like a Faith No More reunion might actually happen. In June, the band returned to Instagram where they shared a photo of their fans embossed with their logo and a giant “2027.”
