Boy George shares pro-Israel song ‘We Will Dance Again’

Boy George has shared a new pro-Israel reggae song titled ‘We Will Dance Again’ – listen below.

The Culture Club frontman posted the song on X and Instagram yesterday (July 26), accompanied by the Hebrew title ‘עוד נרקוד’ and the caption: “Shalom.” The pop-reggae track does not, however, appear to have been released on traditional streaming services.

Its opening line, “You say genocide, I say war”, rejects the description of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza as genocide, presenting it as a response to the Hamas-led attack on the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023, where 344 civilians and 34 security personnel were killed and 44 people were taken hostage.

Boy George also uses the song to criticise musicians who have publicly shown support for Palestine. “You condemn the Jews, with selective memory / Musicians holding flags, mouthing like sheep / Propaganda fuelled by the Internet feels so weak,” he sings.

The phrase ‘We Will Dance Again’ has been used as an expression of resilience by Israelis following October 7, and was also used for a 2024 documentary that explored the Nova festival attack.

Listen to the song below.

A United Nations Commission concluded last year that Israel had committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, and said last month that genocidal acts were continuing through attacks targeting children. Amnesty International has also concluded that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.

Israel has repeatedly denied committing genocide or war crimes, maintaining that its military campaign is an act of self-defence following October 7. It also rejected the UN findings as “distorted and false” and a “libellous sham”.

Boy George has voiced support for Jewish communities on several occasions in recent years. In May, he shared a message of solidarity with Jewish people at an anti-Semitism march in London.

“I don’t want to be thanked for doing what is right,” he said at the time. “I have so many beautiful Jewish friends, and I know some of you will be there today. But even if I don’t know you, I send you my love.”

Those comments were made ahead of his appearance at Eurovision 2026, where he performed alongside Senhit as part of San Marino’s entry. The pair failed to qualify for the final.

Israel’s participation in the contest led Ireland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Spain and Slovenia to withdraw, while more than 1,100 artists and cultural workers supported a No Music For Genocide campaign calling for a boycott.

In 2024, Boy George joined Sharon Osbourne, Gene Simmons and Scooter Braun in signing an open letter supporting Israel’s continued inclusion in Eurovision.

Elsewhere, Culture Club recently announced ‘The Singles’ UK arena tour with ABC and Haircut 100, which is due to take place this December.
