A documentary tracing Linkin Park‘s return to the stage is set to hit cinemas worldwide this September – check out all the details below.

The documentary, directed by the band’s own Joe Hahn, offers fans a behind-the-scenes look at their emotional comeback following the passing of singer Chester Bennington, exploring the surviving members’ enduring friendship while introducing the next chapter of Linkin Park with new vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain.

A co-production between the band, CJ 4DPlex, and Trafalgar, the film will blend rare archival footage, intimate studio sessions, and live performances, following them from early recording sessions in 2022 through to the launch of the ‘From Zero’ era with a live performance in São Paulo, Brazil.

“I hope longtime fans see parts of our journey they’ve never seen before, and I hope people who are just discovering our music come away with a better understanding of how we got here,” Hahn said of the doc.

“But even beyond Linkin Park, I hope people connect with it as a story about relationships, resilience, and what it really takes to move forward when you don’t have all the answers.”

Tickets go on sale globally on August 13 – and you can find more information here. In addition to the film, an accompanying 20-song soundtrack will be released on September 25 featuring performances from the aforementioned São Paulo concert, and is available for pre-order on vinyl and CD here.

Alongside the official trailer for the film comes a newly shared recording of their 2024 performance of ‘Somewhere I Belong’ – which you can watch in full above.

Back in June, Linkin Park closed out Download Festival, making history in the process as they became the first female-fronted band to headline. The set marked a UK exclusive for the band, who last performed at the event in 2014, fronted by the late Bennington.

They reformed in 2024, seven years after Bennington took his own life, in a move that proved incredibly divisive at the time, with Bennington’s son Jaime accusing remaining members of “quietly erasing” his father’s “life and legacy”. Choosing Armstrong as his successor was equally controversial among some fans, who pointed to her alleged ties to the Church of Scientology and previous support of convicted rapist Danny Masterson.

In the wake of those allegations, Armstrong distanced herself from Masterson, stressing that she did not condone any “abuse or violence against women” and had only attended an early hearing in his rape trial “as an observer”.

Back in 2024, when they first announced their comeback, Mike Shinoda opened up about the “culture” of the new Linkin Park line-up, saying it felt like the “best we’ve had”. As well as Armstrong, drummer Brittain also joined the band, following the departure of founding member Rob Bourdon. .

While some fans were divided over the comeback following Bennington’s death, as the band started the live shows, Shinoda explained that this version of Linkin Park was “not about erasing the past”.

He then explained why Linkin Park chose to keep their band name for the relaunched line-up, and added that he is “not sure” if they will make new recordings of older songs that feature the late frontman.
