Written as a message of support for those experiencing their darkest moments, “Back To Me” opens with frontman Steve Garrigan’s pared-back vocals accompanied by tender piano notes. As the track progresses, swelling strings and layered harmonies build into a soaring anthem of hope. Garrigan shared that the song stems from personal experience on both sides of struggle, written to inspire listeners to keep going and remind them that they are never truly alone.
The upcoming 12-track album, We Were Only Young, serves as a contemplative reflection on growth, connection, love, and closure. The record spans a wide sonic range, moving from acoustic ballads like “All I Ever Need Is You” and gospel-infused tracks like “Learn To Lose” to vibrant pop anthems such as “It’s Not Over” and the folk-tinged “Vultures.” The project opens with the brooding “Who Will Save You Now” and concludes with “The One For Me.” It also features previously released singles “Without You,” written by Garrigan for his wife on their wedding day, and the nostalgic title track.
The announcement comes as Kodaline continue to perform to packed venues globally on their extensive Farewell World Tour. After launching the run with major outdoor performances in Ireland for 50,000 fans, the group is currently traveling through Asia before heading to Australia, Europe, and the UK. The tour features setlists spanning their multi-platinum catalog, with the entire UK leg in December already completely sold out.
