Usher has reacted to a rumour suggesting he hired a “clone” to perform for him on his latest tour.
Last week, the music superstar played two shows at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey alongside Chris Brown as part of The R&B Tour.
But over the weekend, a clip of Usher – real name Usher Raymond IV – started circulating on social media, with fans questioning whether it was the Burn hitmaker dancing or a lookalike.
“That was foullll. Usher really sent out his doppelganger,” a TikTok user claimed, while another follower declared: “Usher, why’d you have to play us all like that last night?? that is NOT Usher.”
However, Usher returned to Instagram shortly after to insist that it was really him at the concert.
“Ya’ll are funny…clone? They can’t clone this??” he wrote alongside one clip.
The 47-year-old added jokingly: “How ya’ll come up with this? AI ain’t that advanced.”
Usher and Brown are next set to perform at Rogers Stadium in Toronto, Canada on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, the Yeah! singer celebrated the 25th anniversary of his third studio album, 8701, last Friday.
“25 years of 8701…crazy how fast the time went. We can talk about the streams/sales. We can talk about the awards. But 8701 was always bigger than the numbers or any of those things,” he wrote on Instagram. “It’s the memories we made. It’s the fact that this album is what transformed me and truly put me on the map from a teen into a young man.
“Thank U for all the love and support. U are what has made 8701 so special for all these years.”
