Fontaines D.C. announce intimate New York and Los Angeles shows ahead of ‘Dopamine Chamber’

Fontaines D.C. have announced two intimate US headline shows for next month – see the information and ticket details below.

The Irish band are preparing to release their fifth studio album ‘Dopamine Chamber‘ on October 16 via XL Recordings. The record has been produced by James Ford and this week they shared the lead single ‘Marianne’. Pre-order ‘Dopamine Chamber’ here.

The band will also be headlining Reading & Leeds Festivals next weekend, with a homecoming at Electric Picnic in Ireland to follow, and now they have announced details of a pair of intimate shows in the US.

Fontaines D.C. will play Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre on September 21, before heading to Los Angeles for a show at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on September 25. The shows join already-announced performances at Shaky Knees in Atlanta, Sea.Hear.Now in New Jersey and Ohana Festival in California.

Fan can register for access to the pre-sale for the New York and Los Angeles shows here before 6pm ET on Monday (August 24), with the pre-sale beginning at 10am local time on Tuesday (August 25). General sale begins at 10am local time next Friday (August 28). Find tickets here.

Fontaines D.C will play:

AUGUST
28 – Reading Festival, UK
29 – Leeds Festival, UK
30 – Electric Picnic, Ireland

SEPTEMBER
18 – Shaky Knees, Atlanta, GA, USA
20 – Sea.Hear.Now, Asbury Park, NJ, USA
21 – Kings Theatre, Brooklyn, NY, USA
25 – Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Los Angeles, CA, USA
27 – Ohana Festival, Dana Point, CA, USA

The band recently played ‘Marianne’ during the final ever BBC live session at Maida Vale, and bassist Conor Deegan explained that the track had initially been discarded from the album, until their late manager Trevor Dietz told them they were “absolute lunatics” for leaving it out. The song has now been dedicated to Dietz, who Fontaines have described as their “sixth member”.

NME has given ‘Marianne’ a five-star review, noting: “That predecessor was just a stepping stone for ‘Dopamine Chamber’, which follows the rabbit deeper down the hole in search of more mechanical extremes and orchestral noir flourishes to explore the true, numbing oblivion of the modern world. ‘Marianne’ is the red pill you take to come along and see the truth of it all: “Understand this is your life, you can go on dreaming…”

Discussing the concept behind the new record, frontman Grian Chatten has said: “The album itself is a dopamine chamber. You step inside and we test these different mind or mood-altering pieces of music on you.”

Speaking to NME earlier this year, guitarist Carlos O’Connell said he liked the idea of making their Reading & Leeds setlist “maybe a bit more ‘Dogrel’-heavy”, but added that “anything could happen now – literally anything.”
