Adam Scott has offered fans a fleeting glimpse of what it was like inside Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s wedding, and according to the Severance star, the extravaganza was surprisingly down-to-earth.
Appearing on the Today show Monday (Aug. 24), Scott recalled attending Swift and Kelce’s July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York City, where the couple exchanged vows in front of an estimated 1,000 guests. Despite the enormous venue and A-list guest list, Scott said the celebration felt more personal than its grandiose scale would suggest.
“What we walked away with, the impression we had more than anything, was that it was a real wedding,” Scott said. “You had the sense that these are just people who love each other.”
The actor added that although the event was vastly larger than his own wedding, the heart of the evening felt familiar.
“At its core, it just felt like a regular wedding with two people coming together,” he said, adding that “everyone teared up.”
Scott attended the wedding with his wife, Naomi Scott. The couple posed for photos with Paul Rudd and his wife, Julie Yaeger, ahead of the festivities, with Scott later sharing a snap of the two couples on Instagram captioned, “T&T.”
The wedding brought together a massive collection of Hollywood, music and sports stars, including Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lopez, Brad Pitt, Bradley Cooper, Gigi Hadid, Zoë Kravitz and Karlie Kloss.
But Scott’s description of the wedding echoes comments from other attendees who have emphasized the personal nature of the celebration. Country star Brad Paisley, who attended with his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, previously described the wedding as one of the least pretentious celebrations he had ever attended. Meanwhile, Good Morning America anchors Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos also said the event was unexpectedly intimate despite taking place at one of New York’s biggest venues.
For Scott, there was also a very personal consequence to scoring an invitation: earning — and potentially losing — some points with his teenager daughter, Frankie, who is a Swiftie.
When Today cohost Craig Melvin asked whether the invitation earned him “some serious dad points,” the actor admitted there was a catch.
“Sure did — except I didn’t bring her,” he said.
Frankie apparently still got the full Swift-Kelce wedding debrief, though. Scott said she stayed awake waiting for her parents to return home so she could hear all about the celebration.
Swift and Kelce’s wedding took place July 3 at Madison Square Garden, with actor-comedian Adam Sandler officiating the ceremony. Swift’s brother Austin served as her man of honor, while Kelce’s brother, Jason, was his best man.
