Squeeze cancel Virginia show after crew member dies in tragic tour bus accident

Squeeze cancelled their show at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia, after a crew member died in a tragic accident involving one of the band’s tour buses.

Emergency crews were called to the venue’s parking lot on Thursday (03.09.26) after the worker was fatally crushed while carrying out maintenance beneath the vehicle.

According to reports, local police said the man – who has not yet been named – was underneath the bus when a support device failed, causing the vehicle to collapse on top of him. He died at the scene.

The band issued a statement confirming the cancellation and acknowledging the severity of the incident. They said they were “deeply saddened and shocked” by the loss of life and made the decision to call off the performance following discussions with the venue and authorities. Squeeze added that they would work with promoters on a possible rescheduled date and would update ticket-holders when details are confirmed.

They said: “Squeeze are deeply saddened and shocked by an incident that occurred at the venue earlier today, which resulted in the loss of a life.

“After discussions with the venue and the relevant authorities, the decision was made to cancel this evening’s performance. We will work with the promoter and venue regarding the possibility of rescheduling the show and will communicate further information to ticket holders as soon as it is available. Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragic event.”

Wolf Trap also addressed the tragedy, saying a “member of the community” had died in an accident at the national park and that the evening’s show had been cancelled out of respect.

The Cool For Cats group’s next stop on their US tour is the Rose Music Center in Huber Heights, Ohio, this evening (04.09.26).
