Kelly Osbourne shares why she’s cut ties with sister and musician Aimée

Kelly Osbourne has explained why she has cut ties with her sister Aimée.

Speaking in a new interview, the former has claimed that she felt her sister “didn’t really ever acknowledge” either her or her brother Jack while they were growing up and suggested Aimée was “embarrassed” by their family being in the spotlight.

She told the We Need To Talk podcast: “She was just in her own world doing her own thing. And I do to a certain extent, if I’m honest, feel as though she was embarrassed of us.”

Kelly added: “I’ll never really truly understand. It just felt that way. We’re very different. Everything I am, she’s not. Everything she is, I’m not. Like you couldn’t be more polar opposite. We’re like oil and water.”

She went on to say that “one of the hardest things of my life” is “I never got a big sister, and I had to learn how to do certain things that a big sister should have taught you on my own.”

She added: “I do have a resentment there. I’ll have that forever.”

Kelly also said there was “no” hope of a reconciliation between them.

“I just – I respect her. I accept her, but we’re different. And that’s OK … with family, there’s an assumption that because you share blood, everything should be shared. But I think the beauty in life is that you have an opportunity to also select who your family is,” she explained.

“If you’re not going to accept me for who I am, and constantly be trying to change me, and say horrible things about me, and truly seem to thrive when I’m not doing well, I don’t want you in my life.”

Aimée is yet to respond publicly to her sister’s comments.

Unlike, the rest of her family she chose not to embrace fame and opted out of the hit ’00s reality series The Osbournes and later concentrated on launching a music career releasing her debut album ‘Vacare Adamare’ under the moniker ARO in 2020.

“To me, I’d grown up around having a pretty well-known dad anyway, and I always really valued my privacy within that family,” she previously said.

“For me personally, for who I am, as far as morally, and also just to give myself a chance to actually develop into a human being as opposed to just being remembered for being a teenager, it didn’t really line up with what I saw my future as.”

The singer previously said that appearing on the show would have had a negative impact on her music career, “and I felt if I’d stayed with The Osbournes and done the whole thing, I would have been typecast right away.”

Aimée previously also told NME, that she deliberately released songs under her moniker to step away from the spotlight and associations that come with the Osbourne name.

She added: “My motivation for the music has never been huge fame, or huge success. These things are great if you can handle them, but I really wanted the music to speak for itself and I wanted to give it a fair chance. That’s why I came up with an alternative name for the project.”

Speaking about her decision not to appear in The Osbournes, her mother Sharon previously said she “felt terrible” that her daughter wasn’t part of it.

“It was very, very hard on me because we were traveling all over the world, we were doing a million things and Aimee wasn’t a part of it. It made me feel terrible because I didn’t have my whole family,” she said. “She just didn’t want the attention. She was 18, that’s a tough age for a girl, and she just didn’t want it.”
