Papa Roach will no longer be playing their slot at Louder Than Life festival after bassist Tobin Esperance suffered a health “emergency”.

More than 200 bands are set to perform across the four-day fest in Louisville, which kicked off on Thursday (September 17) and wraps tomorrow. Papa Roach were slated to perform tonight (September 19), but have taken to social media to announce their withdrawal.

“After careful consideration and advice from medical professionals, Papa Roach bassist Tobin Esperance will be unable to perform this weekend due to an unexpected emergency,” they told fans.

“Therefore, we will not be able to perform at this year’s Louder Than Life festival, and wish everyone the best. Right now, Tobin’s health is our immediate concern. We look forward to welcoming him back on stage in November and appreciate the continued support and respect for his privacy during this time.”

As mentioned in their statement, the cancelled set would have marked the band’s final US date before they kick off their European tour on November 1.

Their new tour will kick off at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, before moving across the UK to hit Dublin, Birmingham, Manchester, London, and Cardiff, before plenty of Mainland Europe dates that will keep them busy until Deceber 6th, where they will play a final show at LDLC Arena in Lyon, France.

The band are set to kick off their ‘Rise Of The Roach’ tour at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro in November, and will hit Cardiff’s Utilita Arena and London’s O2 along the way. You can find any remaining tickets here and see the full list of dates here.

It comes after they completed a series of UK tour dates last year, which included presenting a £20,000 cheque to the CALM mental health charity ahead of their massive sold-out London show. They will be supporting the charity again in November, with a £1 donation per ticket.

Previously speaking to NME about why the topic remains so close to their heart, frontman Jacoby Shaddix shared: “ We’ve been singing about it since the beginning. Our first song, ‘Last Resort’ was about a cry for help. It’s always been part of our story and a part of my life. I’ve had my own highs and lows and I’ve come to an understanding of how to grapple with it. I know the darkness, and by putting it into my music it’s connected me with so many thousands upon thousands of people.”
