Amid Climate Week NYC, TuneCore has announced an expansion to its pre-existing partnership with Brian Eno‘s EarthPercent organization and its Sounds Right initiative.
The partnership, which began in April, made it possible for TuneCore artists to directly support organizations working on ecosystem restoration by donating a selected percentage of their streaming royalties to the Sounds Right Fund. The fund comes from royalties generated by songs in the cross-DSP Sounds Right playlist, which all feature “Nature” — the official artist page for the natural world — as a collaborator. TuneCore artists who opted in were able to list “Nature” as a collaborator to arrange a royalty split benefiting the myriad organizations supported by the Sounds Right Fund.
On Tuesday (Sept. 22), TuneCore expanded this partnership by announcing that it will match artist donations. The donation match initiative will extend through the end of 2026.
“Artists have a powerful ability to inspire change directly through their music,” TuneCore chief business officer Brian Miller said in a statement. “With ‘Give Nature A Split,’ we’re making it easier for independent artists who want to support the planet to channel their music into meaningful action. By matching their donations through the Sounds Right Fund, TuneCore will amplify their influence and help their music make more of an impact.”
“The music community has enormous potential to become a powerful source of funding for climate and nature action,” added EarthPercent’s co-executive director Cathy Runciman. “Give Nature A Split makes that participation simple: artists can share a small part of what their music earns and turn it into direct support for organizations protecting and restoring the natural world. We’re thrilled that TuneCore is now matching those contributions, doubling what artists raise and showing what’s possible when artists and the wider music industry get behind climate action together.”
Sounds Right began in 2024, marking the launch of “Nature” as a royalty-earning artist on major DSPs. Nature now has more than 2.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone. Earlier this year, the organization announced that the Sounds Right Fund will have allocated more than $1.2 million in revenue to frontline conservation by the end of 2026. The project aims to raise more than $5 million a year for global frontline conservation by 2028.
