Macklemore’s Free Palestine tour has sold out before the line-up has even been announced.
On Wednesday, the four-time Grammy winner revealed that all three shows “sold out immediately” after he announced the tour last week.
“I’m honestly blown away. We put these shows together fast and in community, believing that musicians can stand in solidarity with Palestine, use the stage to raise funds and show what collective action can look like,” he wrote on Instagram.
“When those in power try to silence our calls for liberation, art will always be a form of resistance.”
Macklemore continued, “Dublin, Paris and London, thank you for showing up the way you did. The response to these shows is another reminder of how many people across the world are standing together for a free Palestine. Lineups coming soon. Can’t wait to be together.”
Last week, Macklemore announced the Free Palestine Tour, which is “supporting the Palestinian people and movement”, running from October 26 to 30 in Dublin, Paris and London.
Ed Sheeran infamously dropped Macklemore from his Loop tour earlier this month amid an outcry around the opener’s “Free Palestine” onstage remarks.
Following the sacking, fellow tour openers Finneas, Aaron Rowe and Lukas Graham dropped out of the tour, along with Sheeran’s backing band, Beoga.
