Oct. 1 marked the 30th anniversary of the release of Matchbox Twenty’s breakthrough album You or Someone Like You. The album, which included such hits as “Real World,” “3AM,” “Push” and “Back 2 Good,” helped propel the Rob Thomas-fronted band to the top of the charts and into one of the biggest post-grunge rock bands of the era.
Now, the group will spend the next several months celebrating its 30th birthday. The festivities started Oct. 12 with a sold-out show at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles followed by an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Coming in May, a 52-date Live Nation-promoted tour officially gets underway at the Coca-Cola Amphitheater in Birmingham, Alabama, and includes stops at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and Moody Center in Austin, Texas.
Matchbox Twenty’s lineup remains Thomas, Kyle Cook, Paul Doucette and Brian Yale. The Grammy-nominated band has sold more than 40 million records, according to Atlantic Records, with hits also including “Bent,” “If You’re Gone” and “Unwell.”
Fans can sign up here for the Oct. 20 presale, while a presale through Reserved by Spotify begins the same day. Tickets go on sale to the general public starting Friday (Oct. 23).
Openers include The All-American Rejects, The Wallflowers, David Gray, O.A.R., Matt Nathanson and The Lucky.
