The B-52s are set to be honoured with the 2,861st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Love Shack hitmakers will formally receive their star on 29 October.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome the B-52s to the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer said in a statement.
“Honouring The B-52s with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a celebration of their unforgettable music, fearless spirit and the nostalgia they’ve created for generations of fans. Their unique sound and energy have truly become part of Hollywood’s musical history.”
SiriusXM radio personality Richard Blade will emcee the event. The Go-Go’s, who received their star in 2011, and musician/actor/comedian Fred Armisen are set to speak at the livestreamed event.
The group’s star is located at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard in front of Amoeba Music.
The B-52s peaked in 1989 with their album Cosmic Thing, which reached No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 and remained on the chart for 65 weeks. The album spawned the back-to-back hit singles, Love Shack and Roam.
The original lineup consisted of Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson, Ricky Wilson and Keith Strickland. Ricky Wilson died of AIDS-related illness in 1985. Strickland stopped touring with the band in 2013.
Following several farewell tour announcements, the group will wrap its current Cosmic De-Evolution Tour, which they are co-headlining with Devo, in Palm Desert, California, on 31 October.
