MNEK has cancelled his upcoming tour just a month before the shows were due to start.
The British singer and producer, real name Uzoechi Osisioma Emenike, was due to start a tour for his latest album Bulldozer!! in three weeks’ time.
In a statement on X, the 31-year-old told fans he had some “sad news to share,” revealing that he was “cancelling the tour.”
The Grammy-nominated artist explained, “the budget has been fudgey.. the tickets aren’t selling enough …and the show just isn’t ready to the standard I want it to be.”
He remarked that he had now joined “a bunch of artists who are having to cancel their tours due to high production costs, over-ambitious planning, and weighing up whether being at a loss is worth it or not – all for the show to not be done justice.”
The singer continued that he had been “really looking forward” to performing his new album but had “no interest in doing this tour if I can’t do it right”.
He thanked fans who had bought tickets and said they would be refunded soon, adding that he “will be back.”
MNEK had shows scheduled across the UK and Europe, with tickets starting from about £30.
The singer-songwriter started working in the music industry after being signed for his first publishing deal at 14.
He has worked with the likes of Beyoncé, Zara Larsson and Madonna before releasing his debut studio album Language in 2018, with fans waiting eight years for his second album Bulldozer!!, which was released last month.
