East 17 are releasing a greatest hits album to celebrate their 35th anniversary.
The Stay Another Day boy band, founded by Tony Mortimer in 1991 alongside Brain Harvey, Terry Coldwell and John Hendy, burst onto the scene the following year, and now they are set to drop fully remastered versions of their most beloved songs.
The Best Of will be released on December 4, and the band are including a special new Megamix from The Alias.
The collection will include CD and vinyl formats, as well as extended 2CD/DCD set with 10 remastered remixes and 16 restored official music videos.
The package is completed with previously unseen photography from Lawrence Watson, who became known for his work in the NYC hip-hop scene of the ’80s.
The album is drooping in time for the festive season, and will feature their 1994 Christmas Number One hit.
Tony previously revealed that while stay Another Day “doesn’t make” millions, the emotional ballad still “puts a bit of food on the table.
Back in 2024, he told the Daily Star newspaper: “They still play it on the radio, and I’m grateful.
“It doesn’t make me billions, unfortunately, in case you wondered! But it always puts a bit of food on the table and some petrol money, definitely.
“It’s not a million a year, or whatever.”
However, he insisted the track – which was written after his late brother Ollie took his own life – was never about the money.
He added: “It’s about the song, and the recognition of people loving it, and the fact that it’s going 30 years later.”
Meanwhile, Tony has confirmed there are no plans for East 17 to ever reunite, as he and his former bandmates haven’t spoken in “several years”.
He explained: “Me, Terry and John were in a record company, and that, kind of, ended badly with the company. So, we haven’t really spoken since then.
“I think East 17 is viewed by the outside as a living thing, but it doesn’t really exist anymore, but with us.
“Obviously the name does, and Stay Another Day always brings it back every year… We’ll always be joined by it. It’s weird.”
All formats of The Best of East 17 are now available pre-order.
