Kenny Chesney is mourning his beloved pet.
On Wednesday, the country star posted photos of his dog Poncho on his social media accounts, and revealed that his furry friend had crossed the rainbow bridge.
“We lost Poncho at 5.15 this morning and my heart is broken but yet so full cause I know he gave us all he had,” Chesney captioned his post. “We went down a lot of roads, lived a lot of life, and saw a lot of sunsets together.”
The She’s Got It All singer shared how Poncho came into his life at the perfect time.
“Ponch, 15 years ago a friend showed up at my doorstep and said, ‘Here Kenny, you need to learn to attach to something.’ That’s the day Poncho entered my life. I’ve heard a dog enters your life when you need it most. And not just any dog, a specific dog just for you. To help you, to heal you, to show you how to accept unconditional love and give it back.”
The Country Music Hall of Famer ended his message, “Poncho, my friend was right. I needed you and I thank you. Our connection and our bond will live forever and I’m gonna miss you.
“Goodbye Poncho. You were one heaven of a dog.”
Chesney is currently promoting his 21st studio album, Silver Sands Marina, and gearing up for his 2027 The Original Vibe Room Tour of the US.
