Tinashe to Republican Voters During Midterm Elections: ‘Yall Can Go’

Uplift Tinashe and she will uplift Democrats. The pop star took to X to urge her fans to vote in the midterms elections on Tuesday. “VOTE OR DIE ! LETS GO AMERICA,” Tinashe wrote, using 12 blue heart emojis that seemed to signify her support for Democrats.

Some Republican critics on X didn’t appreciate Tinashe’s post, particularly the blue emojis and potential Democrats nod. “Yall can participate in this illusion if you want to, not i,” wrote one critic, to which the pop star replied. “Lame !!!!” she wrote.

Ever the chronically online poster, Tinashe didn’t leave anything up for debate when it came to her political party when she continued to clap back at Republican voters. “You literally just refuse to listen to those of us with sense. did you have to have the blue hearts…alienating your red audience? girl, are you neurodivergent? it gets to a point,” one critic posted. Tinashe responded, “Yall can go,” the singer wrote, using a peace sign emoji.

Another X user wrote, “You do realize there is no telling how much money your Republican fans have given you right? Or you do realize it and just don’t give a fuck…They still listen to you even though they don’t agree with your views because they respect you and love you and you turn around and tell them to get out. What a great person. Lol will never listen to you again,” they wrote.

The “Melatonin” singer offered a blunt reply to that post: “I do not care,” Tinashe wrote.

It’s not the first time the musician has spoken out about her political views. In 2020, Tinashe appeared on Rolling Stone‘s Useful Idiots podcast to talk about her political involvement in the Black Lives Matter protest and during Covid-19.

“It’s been a wakeup call for me especially — as an entertainer, someone who’s a public figure — just realizing that there’s so many more important things than what’s happening inside of your current, day-to-day bubble…I think this year, with everybody slowing down and just being at home, and having so much time to reflect and really think about things, I think it’s been the perfect storm to create this highly contentious political environment,” she said at the time.

“I was really more focused on how I was able to spread the word, get the real truth about what Black Lives Matter really stands for across to my fans as a public figure,” Tinashe continued, adding, “It’s my responsibility to explain my view on things that matter to me.”
