As fans get ready to catch Lady Gaga‘s “Disease,” the pop superstar shared a haunting new video trailer for the fast-approaching single Tuesday (Oct. 22).
In the clip, Gaga — wearing a short white dress — frantically sprints away as a car drives after her in a suburban neighborhood. The camera is positioned from inside the vehicle, making it look as though viewers are the ones chasing her down, her long, black hair whipping behind her in the wind.
The only music audible in the teaser is a string of eery piano notes, followed by a percussive hit at the very end. Gaga didn’t reveal anything else in the video’s caption, simply writing: “DISEASE 10.25.”
“Disease” will mark the first taste fans will get of the 13-time Grammy winner’s highly anticipated seventh album. In late September, Gaga dropped Harlequin, a companion album that coincided with Joker: Folie à Deux; the project debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard 200 and marked her third No. 1 on the Billboard jazz charts.
The “Rain on Me” artist first announced that “Disease” would arrive Oct. 25 in an Instagram post one day prior to the new teaser, sharing a promotional poster that depicted her in the same white dress, bent over the hood of a car as if she’d just gotten run over. Leading up to the announcement, fans noticed that she’d hidden the title of the track in her discography on Spotify by lowercasing specific letters of past releases on the platform as well as posted lyrics from the track on cryptic websites.
