“Go vote for @kamalaharris, Americans,” she wrote. “My grandmother would have”
St. Vincent is thinking about her late grandma this election. On Friday, the musician shared a photo of herself dressed as her “Irish catholic grandmother” for Halloween, as she encouraged her fans and followers to vote for Kamala Harris for president.
“Happy Halloween. My costume is my Irish catholic grandmother,” she wrote, sharing a photo of herself in a wig cap, chunky glasses, and a cigarette in her mouth. “Go vote for @kamalaharris, Americans. My grandmother would have.”
“She wouldn’t have stood for all this damn disrespect,” she added, referring to former President Donald Trump.
The Strange Mercy star joins a long list of musicians who’ve pledged their support for Harris’ candidacy for president. On Thursday, the vice president held rallies in Arizona and Nevada, where she was joined by Los Tigres Del Norte, Maná, and Jennifer Lopez, in a last push to sway Latino voters in both swing states.
“I promised myself I wouldn’t get emotional, but you know what, we should be emotional,” Lopez said Thursday night. “We should be upset. We should be scared and outraged. Our pain matters. We matter.”
Other stars who have backed Harris include Megan Thee Stallion, Maren Morris, John Legend, Bad Bunny, and Cher. Earlier on Friday, Sexyy Red — who shared her affinity for Trump last year — endorsed Harris as well. “I just voted!!! Don’t tell us what to do with our coochies!!” the rapper wrote on Instagram. Beyoncé and Bruce Springsteen also appeared with the vice president at rallies last week.
