Pharrell Williams has recalled being fired from his one and only job that he had before he made music.
The 51-year-old Grammy award-winning star is said to be worth an estimated $250 million (£190 million) but admits he did not do well while working in the fast food industry.
Speaking to BBC Radio 2, the Happy singer revealed, “McDonald’s was my first and only job.
“I got fired three times. I was eating the chicken nuggets. I have to say, I found the sweet and sour sauce and the chicken nugget a pretty combination. It got me in trouble. I got fired three times but not for the same thing.
“The first two times it was just because I was lazy. The third was like, ‘What are you doing? You’re just sitting there eating nuggets?’?”
The star has since built a huge career away from the land of McNuggets – having burst onto the music scene in the early 2000s as a solo artist, music producer, and member of two bands.
His groups the Neptunes and NERD enjoyed huge chart success while his solo material saw him top both the singles and albums charts.
He has also produced worldwide hits for other musicians including Kanye West, Ed Sheeran, Madonna and Rihanna.
Away from music, he has built a fashion empire with his Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream footwear fashion lines – and since February 2023 has been the men’s creative director of iconic French fashion house Louis Vuitton.
