Cardi B posted and swiftly deleted a social media video about the U.S. election results on Tuesday night.
The I Like That rapper, who had endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris for president, took to X as her Republican rival Donald Trump started to take the lead in several swing states.
“We need a Hail Mary,” she wrote, before posting a brief video in which she seemingly took aim at those who voted for Trump to return to the White House.
“This is why some of y’all states be getting hurricanes, that’s all Imma say,” she said, using a face filter that extended her forehead and gave her a goatee.
While she gave no context, the Bodak Yellow rapper made her comment shortly after the battleground state North Carolina was called for Trump along after hurricane-prone states such as Florida and Texas.
The 32-year-old remained active on social media throughout the night. At one point, she jumped on an Instagram Live and expressed her pride in Harris.
“I just hope she knows no matter what happens tonight, millions of people are proud of her,” she said. “Women around the world are proud of her. Women of colour are proud of her.”
She also posted a video in which she appeared emotional and downcast as a newsreader discussed Trump’s gains. Over the top of the video, she wrote, “I hate yall bad (sic).”
Cardi delivered a speech in support of Harris at a campaign rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin last week. Reflecting on the moment, the musician wrote on Instagram, “If you know me you know I’m the biggest history nerd and I’ve been talking about politics on all my platforms for a long long time so this was a dream come true.”
Trump won the election on Wednesday morning. Harris has yet to concede or address her supporters.
