Selena Gomez has admitted she has considered farewelling “pop star life”.
The Same Old Love hitmaker believes she’s a better actor than a singer and said she’s starting to think of herself as “too old” to be a pop star.
“I think I might be a little too old for the pop star life,” Selena, 32, told fellow actor Saoirse Ronan for the latest edition of Variety Studio’s “Actors on Actors” interview series.
The Only Murders in the Building star added she felt as though her career was moving in a different direction.
“But I’m genuinely so happy to just be in this new era of my life,” she said, “and so excited to see what’s to come because in a lot of ways it’s just the beginning for me.”
Selena, who got her start in the entertainment industry as a child actor on the preschool-oriented TV show Barney & Friends, did admit that while she believes acting is her “strong suit”, music has also enabled her to dive into storytelling.
“I definitely think my strong suit is probably acting but I will say one thing I’m proud of in music is being able to tell a story,” She told Saoirse, 30.
“My favourite songs are mostly ballads and they’re very transparent and honest and I feel comfortable in that zone.”
