A$AP Rocky is in Swiftie mode on his new single “Tailor Swif” — but not in an Eras tour kind of way. He first premiered the single during a run of festival appearances in 2022, back when fans still thought its real title was “Taylor Swift,” but held off on releasing it in any official capacity after a version of the track and video leaked online.
“Eatin’ lamb chops on the block when we was broke/Even when I was po’, I was out here, eatin’ goats/Mary had a lil’ lamb, but my mama need a coat/Yeah, I had a shearling and a Gucci link at four years old,” Rocky raps on the second verse before slipping back into the name-flipping chorus: “I’m too swift, don’t tell Taylor about this shit/I’m too swift, now don’t tell Taylor ’bout this shit/Go to my tailor, got me dripped like/Go to my tailor, got me dripped up in the district.”
“Tailor Swif” marks the latest release from Rocky, who has been steadily teasing the release of his upcoming album Don’t Be Dumb. Though he hasn’t yet to set a release date, he recently shared the single “Highjack” featuring Jessica Pratt and performed unreleased material during his sets at Rolling Loud Miami and Rolling Loud Portugal.
When discussing the inspiration behind the single, the rapper cited abstract European art influences. “We coming with a whole new aesthetic on everything, especially with German expressionism and the whole ghetto futurism grim thing,” the Harlem rapper said in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1.
Rocky’s last studio album Testing arrived in 2018.
