Aaron Carter’s estate deemed ‘insolvent’ amid mum Jane’s cash grab

Aaron Carter’s estate deemed ‘insolvent’ amid mum Jane’s cash grab

Aaron Carter’s mother, Jane Schenck, has lost a court battle with the mother of the late singer’s child over the contents of his estate.

A judge has denied Schenck’s bid to prevent her late son’s estate from closing, TMZ reports. Judge Jessica A Uzcategui ruled that Carter’s estate is “insolvent”, meaning that its debts outweigh its remaining assets.

She also ruled that its non-cash assets should be given to Martin, who is the mother of Carter’s four-year-old son, Princeton ‘Prince’ Lyric Carter.

Schenck filed an objection in court back in February, in which she claimed that Martin illegally took $24,530 (£18,366) from Carter’s accounts in the days after his death in November 2022.

Schenck went on to claim that the administrator of Carter’s estate was “partial” to Martin, citing that she made a fair offer to buy her late son’s publicity rights but was denied outright.

Despite Schenck’s objections, she admitted she had “been persuaded” that Martin was a “good mother to Prince Carter, and that she takes care of his daily physical and emotional needs”.

Schenck and Carter’s father, Robert, served as the pop star’s managers for a decade, until the teen singer filed for emancipation, alleging that she had taken more than $100,000 (£75,000) of his money without authorisation.

After his parents divorced in 2004, Carter dropped his petition and moved in with his father.

Carter died at home in the bath on 5 November 2022 at the age of 34. The medical examiner’s report ruled his death an accidental drowning after he had consumed multiple drugs, including Xanax and difluoroethane.
