Aaron Carter’s mum launches fundraiser to get him Hollywood Walk of Fame star

Aaron Carter’s mother has launched a GoFundMe page to raise money for his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Jane Carter Schneck wants her late son, who died in 2022, to be posthumously honoured with a star on the famed Los Angeles tourist attraction.

She has set up a GoFundMe with a goal of $85,000 (£63,000) to cover “the creation, installation, and long-term maintenance” of his star.

“We are coming together as fans, friends, and supporters to honor Aaron Carter’s legacy,” the page reads. “Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer. If you’re unable to give, sharing this campaign means just as much. Let’s come together to celebrate Aaron’s life, his music, and the lasting mark he left on so many hearts.”

The Walk of Fame process requires a formal application, a sponsorship fee and approval from the selection committee. Those selected for the honour have to pay $85,000.

Carter Schneck told TMZ that she plans to submit the paperwork by the 15 May deadline.

She added that the I Want Candy singer “would’ve loved” his own star, and her fundraising drive has the support of Aaron’s siblings Nick and Angel Carter.

Aaron died at the age of 34 in November 2022. He accidentally drowned in his bathtub after taking drugs.

Carter Schneck was recently involved in a legal battle with Aaron’s ex-fiancée Melanie Martin, the mother of his son Prince, over his estate. However, a judge shut down her effort to block the estate from closing earlier this month.

The GoFundMe page has so far raised $220 (£163).
