Prada has named aespa singer and rapper Karina – real name Yoo Ji-min – as its latest global brand ambassador.
Today (August 28), the Italian luxury brand announced in a statement to Women’s Wear Daily that aespa’s Karina has become is its newest global brand ambassador. The K-pop idol notably attended the Prada’s Menswear Fall/Winter 2024-2025 during Milan Fashion Week this January.
The singer has also been wearing Prada for magazine shoots over the last few months, and frequently features the brand on her official Instagram account, as shared by Esquire Korea.
This comes over a year after Prada announced K-pop boy band ENHYPEN – comprising members Ni-ki, Jungwon, Sunghoon, Heeseung, Sunoo, Jay and Jake – as global brand ambassadors. Karina joins them, as well as actress Kim Tae-ri and singers like TWICE’s Sana in her new ambassador role.
Prada is one of several luxury brands Karina has been linked with. In December 2023, Yves Saint Laurent Beauty revealed that she would be the new face of its ‘Rouge Pur Couture’ lipstick line. As a member of aespa, she has also represented brands like Givenchy and Chopard.
The remaining three aespa members have also worked with a slew of global brands, luxury or otherwise, the most recent being Giselle and NingNing, who were named brand ambassadors for Loewe and Versace respectively in early 2024. Meanwhile, vocalist Winter was named a Korean ambassador for Polo Ralph Lauren in November 2023.
Back in May, aespa made a comeback with their first studio album ‘Armageddon’ and its lead single of the same name, which was preceded by the pre-release single ‘Supernova’.
While both singles enjoyed commercial success, the latter went on to become the group’s biggest hit yet. It is now the song with the longest stay at Number One on South Korea’s MelOn weekly chart this year, per Korea Times.
The girl group are currently on their 2024 ‘SYNK: Parallel Line’ world tour, and are set to perform in Australia, Macau and Thailand in the coming weeks.
