Alabama Barker has reportedly been hospitalised due to the effects of nicotine withdrawal.
According to TMZ, the social media influencer was rushed to a medical facility in Los Angeles earlier this month.
Insiders told the outlet that Alabama, the daughter of Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and former model Shanna Moakler, “abruptly” quit vaping earlier in December after she was advised by music industry bosses that the habit is “so bad for a person’s voice”.
However, the 19-year-old reportedly began to feel ill soon after giving up vaping and called emergency services.
She was transported to a local hospital, where doctors allegedly diagnosed her with nicotine withdrawal as a result of not weaning herself off the addictive substance slowly.
Representatives for Alabama have not yet commented on the report.
However, the rising star appeared to be better for her birthday celebration on Christmas Eve.
She shared several photos of balloons and flowers from her special day via Instagram earlier this week.
According to experts from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the main symptoms people experience after giving up smoking tobacco or using vape pens with nicotine include feeling grouchy, restless, jumpy, anxious, depressed, hungry, or unable to sleep.
Those considering cutting back should contact their doctor for advice.
