Alex Warren calls collaborative partner Ed Sheeran “That beautiful ginge of the world”

Alex Warren calls collaborative partner Ed Sheeran “That beautiful ginge of the world”

Singer-songwriter Alex Warren sat down with Hits Radio Breakfast Show host Fleur East to celebrate the official announcement of his new album Wild Child and the release of his latest single, “Passenger.” Throughout the candid interview, the “Ordinary” singer shared deeply emotional stories regarding his songwriting process and reflected on collaborating with his musical idol.

When discussing his career milestones, Warren revealed that he has already accomplished his absolute ultimate goal. “I did it already. I played with Ed, that was it,” Warren stated. “I’m not even kidding guys. Like I’m Ed’s biggest fan. That beautiful like ginge of the world is Ed Sheeran. And I would argue one of the best ginges in the world. Top 2. I played with him. We played Ordinary and it was the coolest moment in my life. I’m not even kidding. I never expected to be half of where we are right now. If it all goes down crashing, I don’t care.”

However, the conversation took a distinctly somber turn when Warren opened up about the emotional weight behind his upcoming project. He confessed there is one specific track on Wild Child that remains too raw to perform in front of a concert audience. “There’s a song called I Miss You More. And that to me is really, really difficult for me to listen to,” Warren explained. “I don’t even play it live because it’s so difficult to sing emotionally.”

Warren went on to describe the intense personal ritual that inspired the track, sharing the heartbreaking backstory involving his late father. “When we wrote it, I went to my dad’s grave and I played it for, I play my songs when I write them for my parents. I go to their grave and play it. And I just think it’s like a beautiful moment. And I just, I bawled my eyes out.

And what had happened was my dad knew he was dying and he was writing me a letter and he wrote me and all my siblings letters saying goodbye… And I had never read the letter. And so I went to his grave and I read the letter and we wrote this song and it was just this beautiful, emotional, really hard record to write.”
