Alex Warren has gone back to back with a second week at No. 1 on the U.K. Singles Chart with “Ordinary” (March 28).
The rising U.S. singer-songwriter and former Hype House member first hit the top spot last week for his maiden No. 1 single. “Ordinary” is the most streamed track in the U.K. over the past seven days, clocking up a huge 7 million combined streams across platforms. The song currently sits at No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Warren’s other material is also experiencing a boost, with “Carry You Home” entering the top 10 for the first time (No. 10), while “Burning Down” rises five spots to a new peak (No. 23).
Speaking to Billboard in January, Warren discussed using challenging moments in his personal life, including the passing of both of his parents and his stint of homelessness, in his material. “I recently started doing this thing where I write about those [experiences], and I try to take control in a way,” he said. “For me, something really beautiful is taking something so sad and dark, and what most would view as something that ruined their life, and turn it into something that can help people.”
Warren released his debut LP You’ll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1) on Atlantic in September, which hit No. 41 in the U.K. and No. 62 on the Billboard 200.
Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” rises two spots to No. 2, and follows a recent two-week stint at the top spot earlier this month. Doechii’s “Anxiety” holds steady at No. 3 — her highest placing yet on the Singles Charts — while Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” rises one spot to No. 4. The song was recently named by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry as the bestselling single of 2024 across physical releases and streaming; he spent two weeks at No. 1 in the U.K. last year.
Roan’s “The Giver” falls three spots to No. 5, while Tate McRae’s “Sports Car” lifts two spots to No. 6. Following a viral TikTok trend, Adele’s “Hometown Glory” continues to rise and ends the week at No. 29; the song was first released in 2007 and peaked at No. 19 at the time.
