Ani DiFranco will hit the road early next year on an extensive tour in support of her latest album, Unprecedented Sh!t.
The first leg of the trek will kick off on Jan. 16 at the Paramount Theatre in Austin and wrap on Feb. 1 at the Moore Theater in Seattle. Following a performance on the Cayamo Cruise, DiFranco will pick up again March 8 in Orlando at the Plaza Live, with the run wrapping with two nights at the Somerville Theatre in Somerville, Massachusetts, April 19 and 20.
Tickets for all shows will go on sale Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. local time. A presale for fans will run Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. local time through Sept. 26 at 2 a.m. local time. Full info is available on DiFranco’s website.
DiFranco dropped Unprecedented Sh!t back in May, marking her 23rd album and first since 2021’s Revolutionary Love. The new album was produced by BJ Burton (Bon Ives, Low), and its title was meant to refer to both the new musical styles and sounds DiFranco explores, and the current political and social climate. The record includes songs about issues like reproductive rights (“Baby Roe”), the Covid-19 pandemic (“Virus”), and climate change (“Spinning Room”).
Along with dropping Unprecedented Sh!t, DiFranco has been busy with the new documentary about her life and career, 1-800-ON-HER-OWN. The film debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival this summer, and throughout September and October, it’ll be screening in swing states in an effort to raise awareness around voting and reproductive freedom. DiFranco will appear at a couple of screenings in Michigan and Wisconsin for special Q&As with director Dana Flor.
