This week, Billboard’s New Music Latin poll — curated with key recommendations by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors — features a new album by Anitta, EQUILIBRIVM II, and Cypress Hill’s first-ever Spanish-language project, Dios Bendiga, featuring Latin rappers Trueno and Alemán, to name a few.
In a two-part, 32-song album, Anitta embraces her culture and identity, while also opening up about her faith, ancestry and cleansed soul. The album—mainly in Portuguese but featuring notable songs in English and Spanish—is powered by the soundscape of Brazil, from forró to funk to bossa nova to samba, and includes collabs with key acts from the MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) scene.
“I poured my whole self into this album. Anyone who listens will realize that,” she says in a press statement. “These songs reflect so much of my spirituality, my worldview, the Brazilian elements that captivate me, and even touches on my own life story. Every choice—musical or visual—was made with intention. I am very proud of what we are delivering.”
Meanwhile, artists such as Ryan Castro, Lunay and the late Regional Colombian star Yeison Jiménez have also dropped new music this week.
The most recent New Music Latin poll (published on July 17) was topped by Kendo Kaponi’s comeback track “Se Equivocan” with Farruko, which earned more than 64% of the vote.
