The name of Anne-Marie and Slowthai’s second child has been inspired by diabetes that Anne-Marie suffered with while pregnant, it’s been revealed.

Earlier this year, the pop artist took to social media to reveal that she was pregnant with her second child with Slowthai. The couple welcomed their first child, Seven, last April, and tied the knot back in 2022.

Last week (October 14), Anne-Marie revealed that the name of their child as ‘Forever Sugar’ on This Morning.

The musician then opened up about the reason behind the name, explaining: “I had the diabetes thing that you get when you’re pregnant,” the 35-year-old shared, saying that she had gestational diabetes while pregnant. “So I thought, ‘What a perfect middle name.’”

As for the child’s first name, Anne-Marie said that came from her side of the family. “My nan used to sign off every card with ‘always and forever,’” she said. “All the time. And now my mum does it and my sister does it, and I think ‘Forever’ is just—it’s just a cool name.”

Back in February, Anne-Marie shared a new single called ‘Don’t Panic’. The song served as the opener of the singer-songwriter’s new two-track project ‘Act 1: ‘If You’re Looking For A New Best Friend’, which follows her 2023 third studio album ‘Unhealthy’.

Per a press release, the EP “delved into the themes of love for oneself, others and the universal quest for meaning”. On ‘Don’t Panic’, Anne-Marie explores “the chaotic reality of anxiety and inner turmoil”.

Late last year, the singer opened up about her “most beautiful yet hardest year”, following Slowthai recently being cleared of raping two women at a house party in 2021.

Sharing a series of photos of herself, Slowthai (real name Tyron Frampton) and Seven last December, Anne-Marie wrote: “2024 the most beautiful yet hardest year of our lives. God really tryna see how strong I am hahaha. I miss you all and I love you all more than you’ll ever know.”

Frampton and his co-accused, Alex Blake-Walker, consistently denied the accusations levelled against them. The rapper reportedly broke down in tears in the dock when the not-guilty verdicts were read out in December 2024. Slowthai was supported by his wife throughout the trial, which was held at Oxford Crown Court.

The verdict came just days after it was reported that jurors were told not to be “Wagatha Christies” when making their decisions – a reference to the famous legal battle between Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney.

Slowthai was nominated for the Mercury Prize for his 2019 debut album ‘Nothing Great About Britain’, with his second album ‘Tyron’ reaching Number One in the UK upon its release in 2021. His third and most recent LP, ‘UGLY’, was released in March 2023.
