There is a fake Angine de Poitrine band touring in Russia now, according to reports.
The real Angine de Poitrine recently performed at the opening night of The Great Escape 2026 with an in-demand headline set at the opening party presented by NME.
Stepping in to play the TGE Beach site tent after The Kooks were forced to pull out due to injury, the buzzy Canadian math-rock duo capped off the first night of the legendary Brighton new music showcase festival on Wednesday, May 13.
Now, according to Exclaim!, there is a fake Angine de Potrine copying the groups polka-dotted math rock in Moscow.
“There’s a fake [version of the] band touring Russia already, with the costumes and everything,” said Sam Murdock, an art director and layout designer who works with the real Angine de Poitrine, told Exclaim! “And they keep tagging the band and they don’t even say it’s not a real band.”
Murdock continued: “We’re living in a weird time where everyone’s trying to make money off the band. Right now, there’s like 1,500 fake T-shirts online already, and I removed 700 fake T-shirts on Tee Republic and on Red Bubble, but they keep on popping up.”
You can see a clip of the fake band here.
The real band are made up of anonymous Canadian duo “Khn de Poitrine” on microtonal guitars and vocals and “Klek de Poitrine” on percussion and vocals. Their debut album arrived in 2024 and was titled ‘Vol. I’, and they recently announced their sophomore record.
Thanks to their flamboyant fashion and experimental performances, the viral group have been gearing up to embark on a work tour, including another UK leg in October, including a huge show at London’s Troxy on October 19.
Due to huge demand, Angine de Poitrine later unveiled yet another show at Troxy on October 20. They’ve also announced several venue upgrades for their Glasgow, Dublin and Leeds shows – the duo will now play at the O2 Academy Glasgow, Vicar Street and O2 Academy Leeds respectively.
Any remaining tickets for the band’s shows can be found here.

The group have experienced a surge in followers in the last two years, particularly due to their elecrifying Live on KEXP session, which has now garnered over 8million views.
Since the release of that performance, they’ve won over fans like Dave Grohl, who professed that the band “absolutely blew my fucking mind” and called them “so completely bonkers, dude”.
