Are Slipknot finally set to release “lost” Radiohead-esque album ‘Look Outside Your Window’? “2026 is the year”

Are Slipknot finally set to release “lost” Radiohead-esque album ‘Look Outside Your Window’? “2026 is the year”

Slipknot percussionist Clown has said the band hopes to release their long-delayed “lost” album ‘Look Outside Your Window’ next year.

The album was recorded by Clown (real name is Shaun Crahan), Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson and Jim Root at the same time as they were working on 2008’s ‘All Hope Is Gone’. To date, only one track from the sessions has been released – the ‘All Hope Is Gone’ bonus track ‘Til We Die’, which often plays over the PA at the end of their shows.

They have teased the eventual release of the album since 2019, when Crahan said that the band were readying the release, and Corey Taylor later added that he “tried like hell to make those worlds come together” to complete the project. Meanwhile, Root has mentioned that he has threatened to leak it on multiple occasions.

When speaking to NME in 2020, Crahan revealed the band almost dropped it over Christmas 2019 but ultimately decided against it because they didn’t want it to interfere with sixth studio album ‘We Are Not Your Kind’.

Crahan in particular has given estimates of its release date that have not yet materialised.  Indeed, he told NME late last year that ‘Look Outside Your Window’ would finally see the light of day in 2025, confirming that he’d shown Taylor the final artwork and the album was now in the hands of their management.

“I’m really pleased about it and happy to finally be rid of it,” he said. What’s nice though is that it isn’t a hype thing, it’s just something we did while we were doing other Slipknot albums. It was a very honest action to make music that wasn’t Slipknot, but utilised the skills of guys with no rules.

“I don’t know if it’s ‘good’, but I know that I love it. I make music for myself, but I hope that the people who waited and waited and waited think it was worth it too.”

Now, Crahan has offered another update on the album. In a Discord Q&A yesterday (December 3), he said (via Kerrang!): “I know I told everyone it would be this year. I’m very sorry it hasn’t been. Things come to play that change things all the time with the art we create. I want you to know 2026 is the year. It’s just simply time and I’m just getting tired of waiting myself. Have faith. I promise.”

Both Crahan and Taylor have said that ‘Look Outside Your Window’ doesn’t sound like a usual Slipknot record. “It was never a Slipknot album. Not while it was happening, not while I’ve held onto it for 10 years, and certainly not fuckin’ when it comes out,” Crahan told Knotfest in early 2025, stating that its sound is “not even close” to Slipknot’s.

Crahan had previously said it sounded “experimental, psychedelic” and Taylor noted in 2019 that they’re “super vibey, super melodic” and “very solemn, very energetic, very artistic”, going as far as to compare the songs to Radiohead.

Taylor has also admitted that the constant delays have partly been his fault. When asked about the record in an interview with NME, he replied: “It’s actually funny that you bring that up. I was talking to Clown about it the other day and he goes, ‘One of the reasons it hasn’t come out is because you keep putting shit out which keeps conflicting with when I want to release it!’

“I was like, ‘Fuck dude, why didn’t you tell me?’ He says, ‘Fuck, Taylor – you just got too much shit!’ It’s sounding like he’s got a release date that he can finally lock in and I have promised him that I won’t release anything that will ruin that.”

Meanwhile, Slipknot are also working on new music, according to their recently recruited drummer Eloy Casagrande.

Speaking to Drummer’s Review, he said: “We are cooking, we are doing some new music, for sure”. While he didn’t give any specific details, he added: “Since I joined the band, we have been working on some new ideas. We keep exchanging guitar riffs, drum beats, so we are always doing something. We had also some jam sessions.

“So, we have a lot of material right now. We just have to sit and put everything together, start jamming, and it’s happening. It already happened. It’s gonna happen in the future. So new material is coming, for sure.”
