Ariana Grande made one last lyric change about her boyfriend Ricky Alvarez during the final show on her Eternal Sunshine tour on Tuesday.
The Into You hitmaker, who rekindled her relationship with her former backup dancer earlier this year, has been switching up the lyrics in her 2018 song Thank U, Next throughout her tour to honour her boyfriend.
In the original track, Ariana sings, “Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh,” and for her final performance at London’s O2 Arena, she revised the line once again and ended on a positive note, singing, “Wrote some songs about Ricky / I’m tryna make him my last.”
The crowd went wild at the unexpected lyric change.
The 33-year-old has revised the ending of that line several times throughout the tour, with earlier updates including, “And they still kinda slap”, “I know he’s still got my back” and “We always find our way back”.
Ariana originally dated Ricky between 2015 and 2016. The couple, who reportedly got back together over the summer, made their romance Instagram official last month, and they have been spotted out and about in London during her residency.
The pop star announced in early August that she would take “a step back from visibility” at the conclusion of the tour.
The Wicked actress became emotional during her final show as she thanked her fans for giving her one of the “extraordinary experiences of my life” before her hiatus from the limelight.
