Ariana Grande Reacts to ‘Blindsiding’ Second Golden Globes Nomination for ‘Wicked’: ‘I’m So Moved’

Ariana Grande received some very, very good news on Monday morning (Dec. 8). One year after scoring her first-ever Golden Globe nod, the singer-actress once again earned a nomination for her performance as Glinda in the Wicked films following the premiere of the sequel earlier this year.

And in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter shortly after the 2026 nominations list dropped, Grande gushed that her second time being recognized in the best supporting actress category is “definitely just as exciting” as the first. “You don’t expect something like this, let alone to happen twice for the same role,” she told the publication, adding that the nod feels “kind of blindsiding.”

“I’m just deeply honored,” she continued. “I’m just really moved by it.”

In a post on her Instagram Story, the Grammy winner echoed those feelings of disbelief. “thank you so much @goldenglobes for this tremendous honor and for recognizing this performance a second time,” she wrote. “i’m so moved and grateful, there are truly no words. thank you, thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Wicked: For Good hit theaters worldwide on Nov. 21, almost exactly one year after the first Wicked premiered. At the 2025 awards, Grande was nominated for best supporting actress in a motion picture for her performance in part one, but the award went to Zoe Saldaña for Emilia Pérez instead.

Costar Cynthia Erivo was also nominated at the 2025 Globes, earning recognition in the best actress, musical or comedy category. She is once again up for the same award this year, meaning she and Grande are in the rare company of actresses who’ve earned nominations twice for playing the same role in different films.

With Wicked finally in the books after years of production and back-to-back promotional cycles, Grande is now looking forward to taking on more acting projects. In addition to joining the voice cast for Wicked director Jon M. Chu’s animated film adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, she is set to star in 2026’s Focker-in-Law opposite Ben Stiller and Robert DeNiro.

While speaking to THR, Grande touched on what she hopes to do next. “There are a few things floating around in my head, but I would love to do theater as well, and it’s something that I’m excited about,” she said. “I think as someone who started on Broadway, I would love to be on stage in that way again, and exercise a different muscle and continue to tell stories in different ways.”
