Ariana Grande, Shaboozey, Bruno Mars & More: Highlights of This Week’s Billboard Charts

Tuesday is new Billboard chart day each week! As all charts update each Tuesday morning, here’s a look at highlights of the latest rankings, dated Aug. 15 and reflecting the July 31-Aug. 6 measurement week, according to data tracker Luminate.

Among this week’s chart stars are Ariana Grande, Shaboozey, Ella Langley, Bruno Mars and Cardi B.

Plus, some notable debuts dot Billboard’s radio airplay rankings. On Pop Airplay, BTS’ “NORMAL” opens at No. 40. It’s the group’s second entry from its album ARIRANG and follows the septet’s 10 prior charted hits at the format dating to 2017, including the LP’s lead single, “SWIM.”

On Alternative Airplay, venerable punk-rockabilly band Social Distortion enters at No. 39 with “Tonight.” As “Born to Kill” arrived in March, and reached No. 28 in May, the group boasts multiple debuts on the chart in a single year for the first time since 1992. Formed in Orange County, Calif., in 1978, the act logged its first three titles in 1990, including its cover of Johnny Cash’s classic “Ring of Fire.”

Meanwhile, Madonna notches another hit from Confessions II as “Danceteria” debuts at No. 30 on Dance Airplay. A week earlier, “Love Sensation” became the album’s second No. 1 on the chart, after “I Feel So Free.” Plus, her Sabrina Carpenter collab “Bring Your Love” (promoted to pop formats) also made the survey.

Check out more key highlights from this week’s Billboard charts below.

For a deeper dive into all of the above and more, go to Billboard’s Chart Beat hub, sign up for the weekly Chart Beat newsletter, among other e-blasts, and browse the full menu of Billboard’s charts, which refresh every Tuesday morning (and each Wednesday during holiday weeks).

  • Ariana Grande

petal debuts as the pop superstar’s seventh No. 1 on the Billboard 200. With 295,000 equivalent album units earned in its first week, she scores her biggest week of the 2020s, as well as her top week by album sales (168,000) in more than a decade.

The Outlaw Cherie & Other Western Tales debuts at No. 1 on Independent Albums, No. 3 on Americana/Folk Albums and No. 4 on Top Country Albums, becoming his second leader on the first chart and his second top 10 each on the other two tallies.

“I want to show the world who I am as an artist and storyteller,” Shaboozey shared in a statement announcing the album. He called the set “a project that’s been several years in the making and has gone through many iterations. It’s a Western about revenge told continuously through every song, centered on the character Cherie Lee. It pushed my songwriting and storytelling to new heights.”

  • Ella Langley

“Choosin’ Texas” commands the Billboard Hot 100 for a 17th week, solely claiming the fourth-longest No. 1 run in the chart’s history. Browse every hit that has reigned for 10 or more weeks here.

  • Shakira X Burna Boy

Even with the last World Cup goal scored July 19, “Dai Dai” remains No. 1 on Billboard Global Excl. U.S., where it leads for a seventh week.
