Arlo Parks announces surprise, intimate ‘Sonic Exploration’ shows in London, New York and LA

Arlo Parks has announced a brief run of intimate headline shows, dubbed ‘Sonic Exploration’. Find all the details below.

The London artist is set to hit the road later this month for her first live performances in over a year.

She’ll return to the stage with a hometown concert at The Bath House in London on Friday November 28. From there, Parks will head to the US for dates at New York’s Silo (Tuesday December 2) and Los Angeles’ Melt (Friday December 5).

“London, New York and LA – I can’t wait to share what I’ve been making in the studio,” the singer-songwriter wrote. The official tour poster sees Parks sitting on the floor amongst some synths and music gear.

Fans can access tickets by signing up to her mailing list here. They will go on general sale today (Wednesday November 12) at 5pm GMT/12pm EST/9am PST.

Parks recently teased her next era by sharing a snippet of an upcoming new song called ‘New Desire’, along with a vintage-looking video.

“I’ve been in the studio working on new music and this little idea was born out of a late night session with [producer and songwriter Baird],” she wrote. “D sent me a voicenote in May that made me feel like a teenager again – tender with new magic.”

Parks added: “I wanted to put my heart on the line and write it how it FELT.” She then told fans to sign up for updates about “what’s been cooking”. You can watch the clip in the post above.

A new press release has promised that there is “much more to follow” from Parks in the near future.

NME last caught up with Parks at Mad Cool 2024, where she gave some hints at what the follow-up to 2023’s ‘My Soft Machine’ could sound like.

“I’m listening to a lot of fun pop music, like Pharrell [and] Gwen Stefani,” she explained. “[I’m] exploring a lot of ambient music as well, listening to a lot of NTS. I’m just kind of in my adventurous sponge phase.

“There’s so much time spent waiting around [on tour], and I try to just write and learn new things.”

When asked what she enjoyed about ambient music, Parks replied: “It’s just spacious. I love to listen to music literally 24/7, but it’s music that I listen to when I write, ’cause I kind of have space to have thoughts. There aren’t too many voices crowding the space.”

She concluded by telling NME that she would be “working on music” after wrapping up her tour, adding: “I just wanna be at a place where I’ve closed this chapter of ‘My Soft Machine’, and I can just go into my little cave and come out with something magic.”

You can watch the video interview in full above.

In a three-star review, NME described ‘My Soft Machine’ as “a subtle step forward” for Parks, following her Mercury Prize-winning and BRIT-nominated debut ‘Collapsed In Sunbeams’ (2021).
