Ayda Field thanks Sharon Osbourne for ‘entrusting’ Robbie Williams to pull off an emotional BRITs tribute for Ozzy Osbourne

Ayda Field has praised husband Robbie Williams’ emotional BRIT Awards tribute to Ozzy Osbourne — while fans online were left divided over whether he was the right artist.

The Angels hitmaker, 52, fronted a supergroup – including Adam Wakeman, Robert Trujillo, Tommy Clufetos and Zack Wylde – for an emotional rendition of Ozzy’s No More Tears at the star-studded bash at Manchester’ Co-op Live Arena on Saturday night (28.02.26) and his spouse has shown her support for Robbie after he faced judgement over being chosen to honour his late friend.

The 46-year-old actress and presenter reflected on the night in a heartfelt Instagram post, opening with: “What a sensational evening at the BRIT AWARDS last night…! From unexpected lovely chats (@sombr what a kind soul [you] are) to many inspired musical performances, the evening was pure music magic.”

Ayda said nothing compared to watching Robbie – who shared a special bond with the Paranoid rocker and his family and was by his side when Ozzy received his star on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame – take the stage to honour the Black Sabbath legend, who died in July 2025, at the age of 76:

She continued: “But the real core of the evening for me, was watching @robbiewilliams take the stage with @zakkwyldebls @robtrujillo @tommysrocktrip and perform an incredible tribute to the forever legend that is @ozzyosbourne …Rob has love, respect and admiration for Ozzy and the entire Osbourne clan is longstanding. Last night’s tribute to Ozzy was both great honour and deeply personal.”

Ayda also thanked his widow, Sharon Osbourne, directly for trusting Robbie with such a significant moment, adding:“@sharonosbourne Thank you for entrusting Rob with such an important moment. We love you. And @kellyosbourne @jackosbourne and @aro_officialmusic consider our arms wrapped around you always. Aw x #brits #brits2026 #manchester. (sic)”

But while Ayda was overflowing with pride, reaction among viewers was far more mixed.

Many fans praised Robbie’s vocals and his long-standing affection for Ozzy, calling the performance a “beautiful gesture” and a “fitting tribute”. Others questioned the choice, arguing that a heavier rock or metal artist might have been a more natural fit for the moment.

One X user wrote: “Putting Robbie Williams in front of Zakk Wylde and Robert Trujillo is like putting a My Little Pony sticker on a Harley Davidson. The disrespect to Ozzy is insane.”

Ozzy was posthumously bestowed with a Lifetime Achievement award at the bash.
