Barry Manilow has announced new and rescheduled tour dates following his recent lung cancer diagnosis.
The Copacabana hitmaker has announced six new tour dates across March and April after postponing shows while undergoing treatment for stage one lung cancer.
Manilow confirmed the diagnosis in mid-December, explaining on Instagram that doctors had discovered a “cancerous spot” in his left lung that required surgery to remove.
The 82-year-old said the cancer was detected after he underwent an MRI following several weeks of bronchitis.
The singer, who is preparing to return to the road with his The Last Last Concerts tour, had initially been due to perform in January. Those dates have now been rescheduled for March and April, with additional shows also announced. Manilow is also said to have new music in the works.
According to the tour announcement, Manilow has since undergone surgery and “thanks to the early detection, the operation went well and his medical team is optimistic.”
The upcoming leg of the farewell tour is set to begin on 27 February in Florida, with further dates scheduled across North Carolina, Maryland, Virgina, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky and South Carolina, before concluding in Georgia on 29 April.
At each concert, Manilow will present a local music teacher with the Manilow Music Teacher Award, which recognises educators for their passion and dedication to music.
