Basement have announced a UK and European leg of the ‘WIRED’ tour for early next year – check out all the details below.

Back in May, the alt-rock mainstays returned with the release of ‘WIRED‘, their first new album in over eight years, and they’re set to take the tour in support of it to the EUK and Europe across a series of dates next year.

They’re due to play shows in Amsterdam, Brussels, Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Leipzig and Cologne before heading to the UK and Ireland for gigs in Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Norwich, London, Manchester, Belfast and Dublin.

Support on all dates will come from Fleshwater and Béton Armé, with the new dates coming on the heels of last night’s (August 23) appearance at All Points East x Outbreak.

Tickets for the new tour will go on artist pre-sale on Wednesday (August 26) at 10am BST, while general sale kicks off on Friday (August 28) at the same time. You can find your tickets here, and check out a full list of dates below.

Back in 2019, Basement frontman Andrew Fisher spoke to NME the creation of ‘Beside Myself’, and said they were “really scared” to label it a ‘rock’ record.

“I associate that with big hair and over-the-top guitar playing, or whatever,” he said at the time. “But I can’t deny it anymore. That, now, is the label that I’m happiest to accept – at least with that, you know it’s going to be… to a certain extent, real.”

“There’s lots of different, cool, guitar-based music,” he added. “Whether you want to sound like My Bloody Valentine, where it’s like, ‘Woah, is he even playing a guitar?’, or you wanna sound like a heavy, down-tuned band, there’s so many ways you can go with it. I just think, with trends of music at the moment, I think people are almost scared to be like, ‘Hey, we’re a rock band.’ It’s okay – you can just plug in a guitar and play!”

In NME’s four-star review of ‘Beside Myself’, Tom Connick wrote: “For years, Basement thrived on the fuzz and flannel of grunge revivalism; debut album ‘I Wish I Could Stay Here’ and 2012 follow-up ‘Colourmeinkindness’ harked back to the nineties like the wardrobes of oh-so-many art students.

“It’s an albatross that’s followed them through brief hiatus and reunion, their rose-tinted, sepia-toned take on alt-rock finding favour with crowds on both sides of the Atlantic, though never really breaking free of comparison to decades gone by. With major label debut ‘Beside Myself’, however, the Ipswich-via-USA rockers have flipped their approach, finding solid ground in the present day.”
