Beyoncé has honoured “national treasure” Willie Nelson.
The music megastar praised the country icon just days after they both attended a rally for U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris in Houston, Texas on Friday.
“The Great Willie! You are the coolest!,” Beyoncé wrote in a new Instagram post, which included several snaps of Willie.
“I admire you, and I sincerely thank you for being the pioneer you are,” the Texas Hold ‘Em hitmaker continued. “Thanks for your impactful music, your advocacy, and the gracious way you appreciate and celebrate other artists! You are 1 of 1.”
Beyoncé then recalled that her former girl group Destiny’s Child met the On the Road Again singer two decades ago.
“You were so kind to me and the girls of Destiny’s Child when we fanned out meeting you years ago,” she wrote. “And you greeted me with the same kindness 20 years later!”
The hitmaker concluded the heartfelt post, “You are one of our national treasures. Sending my love to you.”
The Single Ladies singer and Willie recently collaborated on Beyoncé’s country album Cowboy Carter. Willie appeared on Smoke Hour, one of the album’s radio-themed interludes.
Both stars attended Friday’s rally in support of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala, with Beyoncé and her Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland endorsing the current vice president.
Meanwhile, Willie opened the event and performed several of his hits including Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys.
