Billie Eilish has declared Rihanna to be “literally my idol”.
The Lunch singer admitted she didn’t believe Rihanna had genuinely named her as a “dream collaborator” last month, after the Diamonds hitmaker gushed about her in an interview.
“She is the most ‘anti,’ coolest girl ever,” Rihanna, 36, had told Access Hollywood. “In my mind she doesn’t listen to commercial music. I feel like she’s just creating her diary vocally. You can feel like she’s just zoned into who she is and what she’s experiencing and what she’s feeling.”
This week, Billie, 22, revealed she hadn’t fully believed the praise was real.
“I literally thought it was AI, first of all,” she joked in an interview with Complex magazine published on 5 December.
“I’ve never met Rihanna. She’s literally my idol. She’s the greatest of all time. She’s my complete dream collab. I don’t even answer that question when people are like, ‘Who would you like to collab with?’ But I always think Rihanna.”
She went on to explain she had never considered a collaboration with Rihanna to be within reach – but she would jump at the opportunity.
“She said, ‘If only I could work with Billie’,” Billie explained.
“I was like, ‘Well, b**ch, I’ve been sitting here this whole time!’ What the f**k is she even talking about? Honestly. What do you mean, ‘If only’?! It’s, like, as if I’ve been saying no. Rihanna! Riri!? I’ll literally do anything you want. That’s insane.”
