The singer’s debut solo album, Ruby, was released last year via her own record label Odd Atelier
Blackpink singer Jennie shared a new solo single, “Less Than a Lover.” The song, out now via OddAtelier/Columbia Records, is her ode to summer, centering on a relationship that exists somewhere between friendship and romance.
Jennie first teased “Less Than a Lover” during her headlining set at Governors Ball in New York City in June. Along with the track, she released a cinematic music video that highlights the song’s ethereal nature.
“It’s more than lust/ It’s just enough,” Jennie croons on the single. “And all I want this summer/ Is a little bit less than a lover/ Need a little bit less than a lover/ You get a little bit more than another.”
Last March, Jennie released Ruby, her debut solo EP. The 15-track album, out via her own record label Odd Atelier, featured collaborations with Childish Gambino, Doechii, Dominic Fike, Dua Lipa, FKJ, and Kali Uchis. In the months since, she reunited with Blackpink for a world tour and a new album, Deadline. Deadline, released in February of this year, features five tracks, including the group’s comeback single “Jump.”
Jennie will continue her summer solo festival run as a headliner at Lollapalooza in Chicago later this month. She will also make first-ever appearance at Summer Sonic Festival in Japan in August.
