Blood Red Shoes share scuzzy new single ‘Dead Air’ for ‘Directive 8020’ horror game

Blood Red Shoes have released scuzzy new single ‘Dead Air’ for new horror game Directive 8020.

Directive 8020 is a cinematic sci-fi horror adventure game from developers Supermassive Games. The title launches later today (May 12) and, according to the game’s description on Steam, ”blends intense survival gameplay with meaningful choices and a branching storyline.”

“Earth is dying and humanity is running out of time. 12 light years from home, Tau Ceti f offers a small sliver of hope. When the colony ship Cassiopeia crash lands on the planet, its crew soon realize they are far from being alone,” the description reads. “Hunted by an alien organism capable of mimicking its prey, the crew of the Cassiopeia must outwit their pursuers to make it home alive. As they battle to survive, they are confronted with the hardest choice of all: to save themselves, they must risk the lives of everyone on Earth.”

Directive 8020’s soundtrack has been composed by Supermassive Games’ long-time collaborator Jason Graves. Blood Red Shoes have also written a brand new song for the game. Check out ‘Dead Air’ below:

“We were approached by Supermassive Games about their new game Directive 8020 so we went into their offices and got shown a load of what they were working on,” the band explained on Instagram.

“As two people who know almost nothing about video games we were surprised to find out where the culture is at. This game is more like a playable horror movie and the atmosphere of it fit perfectly with what we were making on [2022 album] ‘Ghosts On Tape’ We came out of there and made ‘Dead Air’ for them using some rough ideas we had sketched out with [producer] Tom Dalgety while recording our last album.”

Blood Red Shoes celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2024 with a string of gigs. They reunited earlier this year with new single ‘Screams’ and head out on a European and UK tour in October.

In other news, Amazon Prime Video has announced that Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul has joined the cast of Fallout for season three.
