The BBC has confirmed details of a Blue Planet 3 orchestral tour featuring the music of Hans Zimmer – check out the dates below:
Blue Planet 3 is set to premiere later this year. The six-part series will once again explore underwater life, with Sir David Attenborough narrating the nature documentary. A recent trailer sees Attenborough promising that the series will “venture even further” than before.
“We will uncover life that is more surprising, more intelligent, and even more precious than we ever realised,” he said.”We will discover the extraordinary relationship we have with the ocean. One that has never been more important to understand.”
Hans Zimmer has returned to score Blue Planet 3 and next year, that music will be celebrated during a UK orchestral concert tour.
‘Blue Planet 3 Live In Concert’ will be hosted by the show’s executive producer Elizabeth White where she will, according to a press release, “share her unique perspective on the astonishing stories and filmmaking behind this extraordinary new chapter of Blue Planet.” The concert tour will also feature specially curated footage from Blue Planet 3 shown on a tennis court-sized Ultra HD LED screen.
Hans Zimmer’s score, created alongside Bleeding Fingers Music’s Thom Lukas and Laurentia Editha, will be performed by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. “There’s nothing like experiencing this score live with an orchestra, especially when it’s paired with the extraordinary visuals of the life underwater,” he said in a statement.
‘Blue Planet 3 Live In Concert’ will visit:
MAY 2027
21 – AO Arena, Manchester
22 – Bp Pulse LIVE, Birmingham
23 – OVO Hydro, Glasgow
TBC – London
Tickets for the three announced shows will be available here from Friday (October 16). The London date will be confirmed soon and fans can sign up to be first to hear about the show here.
“Making Blue Planet 3 has taken us to places we never imagined we’d film, said White in a statement. “But there’s something about bringing that footage into a concert arena full of people, with the score performed live all around you, that will be truly special. This tour is our chance to share the series on a completely different scale, and I can’t wait to be there live, revealing the extraordinary stories behind what audiences are seeing on screen.”
The original Blue Planet premiered 25 years ago while follow-up series Blue Planet 2 was the most-watched British show of 2017. Earlier this month it was confirmed former Little Mix star JADE had teamed up with Zimmer to create ‘Into The Deep (Seas Cry)’ for Blue Planet 3.
